The GNU Hurd has been under active development since the 0.2 release.
Until the next release, the current sources are only available
directly from the CVS repository.

If you are interested in running the Hurd rather than developing it,
you are better off installing a binary distribution of the GNU/Hurd

The contrib/ directory contains files provided by volunteers
contributing to Hurd development, that are not part of any release.

The old/ directory contains the previous releases.  They are archived
for historical reasons, but should not be used by users or developers.
