The Chips and Technologies driver release in X11R6.8.2 came from XFree86 4.4 rc2; this document was originally included in that release and has been updated modestly to reflect differences between X11R6.8.2 and XFree86 4.4 rc2.
With the release of XFree86 version 4.0, the Chips and Technologies driver has been extensively rewritten and contains many new features. This driver must be considered work in progress, and those users wanting stability are encouraged to use the older XFree86 3.3.x versions.
