Remote Access Examples

The following examples show you how to set up your telnet session to work properly with popclk.

X Windows

Open an xterm session.

Click on Options.

Click on Size.

Click on 80x24 (vt100) or 40x15 (small).

Click on the window.

telnet to the Linux system where the emulator runs.

Login to your userid.

Set your terminal type to vt100:

      export TERM=vt100

Start the population clock:

      popclk 72898133


Microsoft Windows

Click on the Start button.

Click on Run....

Open = telnet.

Click on OK.

Click on Terminal.

Click on Preferences....

Select VT-100/ANSI under Emulation.

Set Buffer Size to 16.

Click on OK.

Click on Connect.

Click on Remote System....

Host Name = the IP address of your Linux system.

Port = telnet.

Term Type = vt100.

Click on Connect.

Login to your userid.

Set your terminal type to vt100:

      export TERM=vt100

Start the population clock:

      popclk 72898133

Adjust the size of the window to fit the size of the clock.

Click outside the window to hide the cursor.
