Four other useful functions of HTML OptimizerPro are: (1) Checking the so called tagged pairs, i.e. the tags that always have to appear together with their end tags. Further, IMG tags are checked for WIDTH, HEIGHT and ALT attributes. ALT attributes can be added if missing, with or without string. (2) Checking the validity of the internal links. (3) Marking dangling tags and missing attributes to find them quickly. (4) Converting special characters to the &....; notation. HTML OptimizerPro optimizes very fast: a few seconds for an average file. New in version 1.5 is that you can check or optimize an entire web folder, including nested folders, at one pass. HTML OptimizerPro is a PPC application and requires Mac OS 7.5 or later. -- Ton Brand Ton's Software http://www.spidernet.nl/~ton_brand [Archived as /info-mac/text/html/html-optimizer-pro-15.hqx; 1062 K] ------------------------------ Date: 16 Apr 2000 From: Heiko Subject: [*] MacUptime MacUptime is a simple uptime-displaying utility as it is known from various Unixes. It uses a text window rather than simulating buttons on a hand held calculator. This live scratchpad interface allows you to see and edit your entire calculation. Formulas can be entered directly and different values can be plugged in for easy "what if" calculating. In addition to being a handy little calculator, MathPad can also take on larger problems. Simple plotting allows quick visualization of results. General purpose arrays allow calculations involving vectors, complex numbers, matrix algebra etc. 2D arrays can be displayed as grayscale or color images. Several examples are included showing such things as equation solving, curve fitting, vector calculations and numerical solution of differential equations. MathPad 2.5 runs on any Mac with System 7.0 or better and has been tested under OS9. MathPad 2.5.2 is an upgrade intended to replace previously posted versions. Some of the new features: * Syntax coloring in text editor * Graphics export to formats such as JPEG * Direct control of plot trace color and markers * Text string manipulation * New XFuns for linear algebra, images and sounds MathPad is copyright 1993-2000 by Mark Widholm. In the English version there is a command called "puppet menu" which takes an argument which takes (again, for an English-language version of Mac OS) a list argument containing the menu name and the menu item name: {"Application","Hide Others"}. So with Akua Sweets installed, your script (in English) would be: tell application "Finder" to activate puppet menu {"Application","Hide Others"} Alternatively, without scripting, the old but serviceable control panel "ApplWindows" can automatically hide other applications whenever you switch between applications. For the past few weeks, whenever I attempt a shutdown I get the warning "Shutdown could not be completed because the application 'unknown' could not quit". As as result, I have to do the Control-Command-Power Key routine to shut down. A shutdown soon after startup (e.g. startup, going online, downloading mail with Eudora, and then closing the applications), gives no problem, but if I have opened several applications, done some printing, etc., then the problem returns. Suspecting extensions conflicts to be the cause of the problem, I could try using Conflict Catcher to investigate, but the procedure could take hours, as each test would involve a shutdown and startup, and faking a "typical" session to get the problem to reappear. Any ideas?
